Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal is preparing to face arguably the most potent forward line in European football by some distance, the Barcelona trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar.
But despite the presence of the five time Ballon D’or winner in Lionel Messi, the Arsenal manager is mostly concerned with keeping former Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez quite, as he believes the Uruguayan could be the main difference in tomorrow’s last 16 Champions League encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
“Suarez is the kind of guy who manages to create that spirit in teams,” said Wenger, describing the 29 year-old forward as a player who brings ‘camaraderie’ to his teams. When asked what qualities Suarez brings to a team, the Frenchman said: “Camaraderie.
“I believe Suarez gives that to a team. He did it at Liverpool, he did it playing with Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlan [for Uruguay] and did it well.
Arsenal faces a real daunting task to see of Barca in the two legged tie with Luis Enrique’s side unbeaten in 32 league and cup games. Suarez, who is currently the leading scorer in La Liga with 25 goals, scored 12 in his last seven outings.
Wenger also acknowledged the danger great danger posed by Suarez’s striking partners, Messi and Neymar
“I believe that apart from the individual talent the three have, they have a good understanding and cohesion,” said the Arsenal manager.
“We have to analyse what we do and do it well and together.
“Individually all their players are difficult to stop. We have to find a way to do it collectively.”
