Modou Barrow hit his 10th goal of the season for Reading in this afternoon’s game against Preston North End at the Madjeski Stadium.
The 12th minute goal from the Gambia International proved to be the decider in securing a priceless 1-0 for the relegation threatened Royals. It was Barrow’s 10th goal of a very fruitful maiden season at the Berkshire club.
The headed goal, which came from a freekick down the left hand side, with Icelandic winger Jón Daði Böðvarsson heavily involved after being fouled in the build-up. His header from resulting free-kick which was dinked over by Martin Kelly, found Barrow on the far side to head home his first goal in last five games. A stat which shows how far 25-year- old Gambia International has come since joining Reading from Swansea last summer, where he has since scored 10 goals with 4 Assists, and has created 35 Chances before this afternoon’s game, with a 70% success rate in his 79 dribbles.
After game, the delighted forward tweeted “massive 3 points today, great team work, thanks to the fans for the massive support.”
The win was the second successive victories for Paul Clement’s side, since he took over former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam last month, who left the club after a poor run of form, which left club dragged into a relegation battle. They are now five points away from the drop zone in 19th position
