The Gambian teenage sensation Musa Barrow is taking Italian serie A by storm, after scoring his second goal for Atalanta BC in the 3-1 win over Genoa.
Barrow, who made his serie A debut back in February against Crotone, made a Man-of-the-match display at home to Genoa last Sunday, marking it by scoring the game’s opening goal in the 16th minute, his second in the last three games. The teenager, who has already made 9 appearances for the Bergamo side, scored his first series A goal in the 3-0 victory over Benevento two weeks ago on April 18th, after coming on as a substitute, to become this first ever Gambian to score in the Serie A.
And his exploits for the Nerazurris have already gathered a lot of attention from some of the top clubs in the Italian top tier division and in the other parts of Europe, with the likes of Juventus, Inter, Roma and Sampdoria alongside both Chelsea and Dortmund among some the names been linked with The Gambian starlet.
The 19-year-old, who joined Atalanta as a youth team player from Gambian first Division side, Hawks FC in 2016, showed great proficiency in front of the goal, having scored 32 goals in 29 games for the Atlanta’s reserves between 2016 and early 2018, before his introduction to senior side back in February this year.
He scored two goals in his first appearance for the clubs youth side from midfield, before going on to score 7 more goals that year, in 11 games. In the 2017/18 season, he fired in 23 goals in 18 games, which prompted his ascend to the first team, where he made his professional debut in the Coppa Italia, which they loos 1-0 Juventus F.C. on 30 January 2018, before making his full Serie A debut in the 1–1 draw against F.C. Crotone on 10 February 2018.
On this rate, it will be very hard for Atalanta to keep Barrow, who is yet to future for the Gambia national side, when the top teams started lining-up for his services. And according to reports on the Italian paper, Gazzamercato, who described The Gambian as ‘the Atalanta jewel’, scouts from German side, Borussia Dortmund were at the Atalanta-Genoa game last Sunday to watch the young Gambian, who is said to be valued around 20 to 35 million Euros and the paper are also reporting interests from premier league side Chelsea, who they say will be at Atalanta’s next game against Lazio tomorrow afternoon.
