GAF SUFFERED HUMILIATING DEFEAT IN LUSAKA.

The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) FC suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat in the first leg of their African Champions League preliminary rounds against Lusaka-based Zambian side, Zanaco FC, earlier today, Saturday 10th February.

The game which kicked off at 3pm local time at Nkoloma stadium, ended almost all hopes for the Gambian soldiers in their seach to reach group ztages of the elite championship,after the hefty drubbing.


Tembo fire second

Two quickfire goals in the space of a minute, gave the host a 2-0 first half lead, with the team’s new signing, the dangerous Martin Phiri opening the scores in the 34th minute. A minute later, in the 35th minute, giant skipper, Captain Ziyo Tembo powered in a powerful header to give his team a 2 goal cushion.

The Bankers extended their lead to bank all three points on the stroke of the 90 mins, when the 26-year-old Phiri who is among the eleven new arrivals who have joined Zanaco, after joining from league rivals, Power Dynamo, made it 3-0 and for his second goal of the afternoon.

The result now leaves Khaki boys with a mountain to climb when they seek to overturn the 3 goal deficit in a fortnight night time, when the Zambians visit Banjul on February 24th, where the two teams shall go head to head at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
