Gamtel FC’s coach, Sulayman Kuyateh for the second consecutive month, has been voted the GFF Divsion one coach of the month.
The former Brikama United coach was presented the award by the President of the Gambia Coaches Association, Mr Pa Suwareh Faye ahead of his team’s victory at the Independence stadium on Monday evening, in recognition of his side’s performance in the month of February. It was his third this season, having picked up the accolade for the month of January and before that in November.
Kuyateh, who joined the Telecom giants back in September last year, after joining them from Brikama United, whom he had guided to lift the FF Cup in 2016, has transformed the fortunes of the team immensely. His side are currently unbeaten in the league and with a healthy 10 point lead over their closest rivals, the GAF and GPA. The former league champions have amassed 9 wins in the 13 league games they have played so far this term, with 4 draws and 31 points to show and on this this form, it will take something spectacular to stop them from lifting title again.
It was a good night for Gamtel, who also saw their coach’s accreditation followed by that of their star player, Bubacarr Cherno Jallow, who was handed the gong for player of the month of February. That was also capped by the emphatic 3-1 victory over Bombada at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Elsewhere, Wallidan FC’s coach, Mr Foday Bah received the award for the Second Division coach of the month, whist Modou Chorr of Young African FC’s received the award for the player of the month of February in Second tier of Gambian Football.
