Gambia:- Buba Sanneh made a dream return to his former club AC Horsens, after his new club FC Midtjylland secured a comfortable 2-0 away victory in the opening game of their spring season, last Friday.
Sanneh who join Midtjylland from Horsens during the recent mid-winter break, was accorded a rapturous reception by the fans of his former club, where he had spent 117 appearances over two spells, first when he joined the club in 2014 from Gambian side Re de Banjul on a year-long loan. The Horsens side then took on the option to sign the Gambia International on a permanent contract in 2015.
Sanneh became a fans favourite as a goal scoring centre-back, who scored 17 goals over the two spells at the club and it was not surprising to see the Horsens fans applaud his return in an opposing side, when he came on to replace Norwegian midfielder, Gustav Mendonca Wikheim in the 63rd minute. And the grateful Gambian defender shared his delight about the reception in a tweet, writing:
“Pleased to have made my debut for @fcmidtjylland and get on the winning end.
“Many thanks to the AC Horsens GULE fans for the nice reception tonight, I appreciate it and will like to wish the Club the best for the rest of the season!
To cap the warm welcome on his Midtjylland debut, his team strengthen their place on top of the Danish Superliga table on 47 points with an early goal from Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu in the 7th minute and a 91st minute last gasp goal from his compatriot, Frank Onyeka in the 91st minute after coming on as a second half sub ensured the Herning based side secure all three points.
