The Gambia’s Under 20s team are on the verge of taking their bow in the on-going 2018 WAFU Cup in Liberia this evening, Wednesday 25th April 2018.
The Young Scorpions will take on Guinea Conakry’s U20s at the Samuel K Doe Sports Centre in the Liberian Capital Monrovia, witb the kick-off scheduled at 6pm local time.
Mattarr Mboge’s team who were plighted by controversies in their recent appearances in the competition, arrived in Monrovia on Monday April 23rd, where they had their first training session ahead of this earning’s game.
The team and the delegation led by former Army Lieutenant General and Chairman of the Super Nawettan Committee, Lang Tombong Tamba, were received in Monrovia by their compatriot, Tapha Manneh, head coach of Liberian side Liscr FC..
Before travelling to Liberia the team had undergone rigorous training since December last year in preparation for the two week competition. They have been training at the NTTC (National Technical Training Centre) in Yundum. During this time they had also played a number of test matches against some of the countries first Division sides. Now, Mboge, who took charge of the team late last year will hope the team can transfer the practice from the training ground in to the game this evening.
