It’s blocked by a sliding Coloccini, then the ball breaks off a startled Dummett to Rooney on the right-hand edge of the box and Rooney sends an unstoppable screamer into the top left. Another stunning goal.

A sensational performance from Manchester United’s skipper Wayne Rooney, who was at his mesmerising best, scored two on the night and made one… Georginio Wijnaldum was excellent for Newcastle and put on a great shift upfront for the Geordies… Overall it was a fantastic match, with end to end counter attacking football.
